Two Campuses, Two Safe Environments

Hello,

First of all, thank you for visiting our website, which I hope will meet your expectations.

Our school, spread across two campuses, welcomes students with special needs who have an intellectual disability, an autism spectrum disorder, or a disorder related to psychopathology.

I am particularly proud of the team working with our students—passionate individuals whose sole goal is to help them achieve greater autonomy. As a parent of a child with an intellectual disability myself, I understand the challenges faced by our students and, of course, by their parents.

At Peter Hall School, our approach focuses on the unique needs of each student, from which we develop an individualized intervention plan for everyone. Encouraging openness to life is our main concern, while respecting each student’s needs, learning pace, and dignity.

My team and I welcome you and wish you an enjoyable visit!

Founded officially in 1964, Peter Hall School was named in tribute to Lawrence (Laurie) Hall and his son Peter, who attended the first classes created by the Montreal Association for Intellectual Disability. Its origins date back to 1935, when Montreal parents established educational services for children with intellectual disabilities. Recognized by the Quebec Ministry of Education in 1970, the School became a fully funded non-profit organization offering services in both French and English, and over the decades developed an Individualized Education Program (IEP) tailored to the needs of its students.

In the early 2000s, the creation of the Peter Hall Foundation supported the School’s growth and the modernization of its campuses. Today, the School operates two campuses in Saint-Laurent: one for preschool and elementary levels, and the other for secondary education and the transition to adult life, including the Portail program, which promotes integration into community and workplace settings. Staying true to its mission, Peter Hall continues to provide a specialized and inclusive educational environment focused on developing each student’s full potential.
